Inca Trail Standard 4 days and 3 nights The Inca Trail to Machu Picchu is rated among the best trekking trips in the world because of the exquisite beauty of it's natural surroundings, these include different ecological areas from high deserts to Andean rainforest.
The Inca Trail to Macchu Picchu is one of the best trekking tours in the world, due to its natural beauty composed by different ecologic niches, which vary from high deserts to Andean tropical rainforests. The Inca traveled through his empire by using a vast network of roads that crossed the Andes from Argentina to Colombia and from the coast to the Amazonia. The Inca Trail to Macchu Picchu is a branch which goes from the Andes towards the jungle and requires certain physical effort, but you should keep in mind that there is another option, the Inca trail to Choquequirao, which is equal in beauty and of fewer physical exigency than the Inca Trail to Macchu Picchu. The trail makes its way through the high Andean Mountains, sculping the rock in a fantastic sample of the high level reached by the Inca engineering. It is a royal way, as it was used by the Inca and his court to get to the sacred city of Macchu Picchu; for this reason, important archeological inca and pre-inca remains can be observed along the way. Detailed Program: We will pick you up from the hotel at around 6.30 am to start our trip from Cusco to km 82, where we will have a break for lunch. During that time, the guide will give you relevant information about the first day activities (Tourist identification or passport is mandatory on the checkpoint). Day 2: Wayllabamba - Warmiwañusca – Pacaymayo We will get up at 6:00 am to pack and have breakfast, so we can start the trekking excursion up to Warmihuañusca (death women in English) located at 4200m above the sea level. At that point, after 4 or 5 hours walking, we will have a coffee break and time to take pictures of the beautiful surroundings. This is the highest point we will reach. From there, we will start to descend for an hour to reach the second camp site in Pacaymayo. Day 3: Pacaymayo - Phuya Patamarca - Wiñay Wayna Like the day before, we will get up 6:00 am to pack and have breakfast, while we receive an explanation from our guide about the activity of the day. This day, we will walk through the Inca Trail well protected because we will cross an old arqueological Incas site covered by tropical forests like Runkuracay and Sayacmarca. After that, we will have our lunch and then continue the trek until reaching the beautiful Phuyupatamarca site where you will be able to enjoy the amazing view of the snow mountains. From there, we will descend for around two hours until reaching the campsite in Winaywayna. This will probably be the most complex arqueological site we will see during the trail. Here you will be able to take a hot shower (the cost is S/ 5. 00 approximately). At the end of the day, we will have dinner at an excellent restaurant with a buffet service (at this time it is tradition to tip the porters for the service they give us during the trip). (B, L, D) Day 4: Wiñay Huayna - Machu Picchu citadel – Cusco Today, we will wake up at 4 am to take breakfast at 4:30 am, and leave at 5:30 am to the checkpoint. We will cross the tropical rainforest and visit the Intipunku site (sun gate in English). We will arrive to Machu Picchu around 8:00 am where we will have a break time to rest for around 20 minutes. After that, we will take a tour around the amazing citadel of Machu Picchu for about two hours. After the tour you will have free time to explore Machu Picchu by yourself or to climb Wayna Picchu.
