The trip to the amazon is full of adventure, with possibilities to find wild animals and the most attractive landscapes: The amazing macaw clay lick "collpa" in the Bahuaja-Sonene National Park and the wonderful Sandoval lake in the Tambopata - Candamo Reserved Zone. This program includes short walks through the heart of the reserved area of Tambopata Candamo and the Bahuaja Sonene National park.

In Cuzco our non-trekking "Soft Adventure" is designed to maximize excitement within limited vacation time. In Cusco, heart of the Inca Empire, we explore narrow lovely cobblestone streets, the impressive Sacsayhuaman fortress, the mysterious carved rock shrine of Kenko and the delightful Inca Baths at Tambomachay Later on, at the Sacred Valley of the Incas by the Urubamba river we visit the Native Market Pisac and the town and ceremonial site of Ollantaytambo, the only Inca village that has been continuously inhabited until our times.... Finally Machu Picchu .

In Paracas you will visit the Ballestas Islands where hundreds of sea Lions, seals, penguins, and many birds live .

Detailed Program

Day 1 : Arrive in Lima
On arrival into Lima you will be met by your Tour Controller, who will transfer you to your hotel, the comfortable Hotel in Miraflores. Your guide will be happy to answer any questions you may have at this point and recommend a good restaurant; the remainder of the evening is free to rest and take a gentle stroll around the surrounding area should you wish.


Day 2 : Transfer to Puerto Maldonado and the Tambopata Lodge
Today you can take breakfast before you are met by your tour controller and transferred in private to the airport where you will take your flight to Amazon town of Puerto Maldonado. Upon arrival your guide will meet you and transfer you to the Wasai hotel where you will have time to rest and receive a welcoming tropical fruit beverage. You will embark for a 3 to 4 hour motorboat journey up the Tambopata River to the WASAI Tambopata Lodge & Research Centre (box lunch on route provided).

During the journey you will observe the local farms, groups of birds as they pass over the boat as well as the Ronsocos, the largest rodents in the world. On arrival at the lodge you will check in and after a short rest will have a brief introductory walk in the forest nearby to learn basic principles of ecology and learn some wildlife natural history. Returning to the lodge for dinner, you can enjoy traditional cuisine prepared by our expert chiefs. After dinner you have the option of taking a guided walk into the forest to observe the nocturnal life of insects, frogs and an occasional encounter with nocturnal mammals. Returning to the lodge you can take a refreshing drink before you drifting off to sleep with the sound of the forest. Night at Wasai Tambopata Lodge (B, L, D)


Day 3 : Visit to Macaw clay lick
This is an early start as you will need to wake up at approximately 4 am to prepare for your departure by boat for the "Collpa". Travelling further up stream for an hour and a half you will see the amazing sight of the dawn as the sun rises over the forest. You will now be witness to one of nature's greatest spectacles of wildlife as hundreds of parrots and macaws of various species, enjoying their diet of mineral salts on the clay wall. Here you will stay for over an hour and enjoy a hot drink and a fruit snack. Returning to the lodge you can freshen up before enjoying your breakfast and take a rest in the comfortable observation lounge leaving your morning free. After lunch we will enter the virgin jungle on a special trail to observe wild life. You will then enter the territory of peccaries, deer, and other animals with the possibility of hearing or seeing the tracks of these animals. Troops of monkeys travelling through the forest in search of food can also if lucky be observed. Time permitting; we will be able to return to enjoy a relaxing swim in the cascade of the cat, a beautiful waterfall. After dinner you can make another trip through the jungle, search for caimans by powerful lamp light or relax in our lodge surrounded by exotic nocturnal sounds. Day 4 : Return to Puerto Maldonado - Sandoval Lake
After breakfast we will make a trip in boat to the WASAI Maldonado EcoLodge, in Puerto Maldonado where we will relax in our bungalows and enjoy a tasty lunch. After lunch we will leave and travel for thirty minutes on the Madre de Dios River, to the access trail to Lake Sandoval, a beautiful typical rainforest lake. 3 km hike to the banks of the lake. There we will board a canoe to paddle around the lake enjoying the beauty of the landscape and observing the wildlife, such as kingfishers, herons, hoatzins (unique pre historic looking birds) , monkeys, etc. If we are lucky we could see the family of giant otters which live at the lake. We will have the opportunity to swim in the lake.

It is time to begin our return hike to the Madre de Dios River to return to Puerto Maldonado. There we will stay in the modern and comfortable bungalows of WASAI Maldonado Ecolodge. After dinner we will be able to rest or go around the city on foot or on bicycle. We can enjoy the pool and its cascade surrounded by verdant vegetation. Rest of the night free to enjoy the night life of this welcoming city. Night at Wasaí Maldonado Ecolodge (B, L, D)

Day 5 : Gamitana Island: Rescue center, Canopy and Ese Eja family
After breakfast we will make a 1.5 hour river journey by the Madre de Dios River to the Rescue Center of Taricaya. We will spend the day making different activities such as visit to the Rescue Center of Animals to be reintroduced to the jungle. Canopy at the top level of the trees (43 mts high) and visit to the Gamitana Island where an Ese Eja family will teach us about their culture and customs. Return to the WASAI MALDONADO ECOLODGE in the afternoon. Farewell dinner. Rest of the night free to enjoy the night life of this welcoming town. Opportunity to buy some souvenirs. Night at Wasaí Maldonado Ecolodge (B, L, D)

Day 6 : Return to Puerto Maldonado - Fly to Cuzco
After breakfast you will be met by your guide for the transfer to the airport for your short one hour flight to Cusco. On arrival our guide will meet you and transfer you to your hotel ideally situated in the city centre. After you have had chance to settle in your guide will return to take lunch and give one of his walkabout tours of the city. You will visit the most important places of the city as the Main Square, the important streets, the cathedral and the Koricancha or temple of the Sun. the rest of the day is then yours to spend as you wish; perhaps you could take this opportunity to write and post your postcards and simply while away the day in Cusco's many cafes, bars and restaurants.Night in Cuzco. (B)

Day 7 : Sacred Valley Tour
Today you start your relaxed tour of the Sacred Valley. On the way we will visit Sacsayhuaman, one of the best examples of Inca stonework. From here we will travel to a variety of sites including Qenko, Puca Pucara and Tambo Machay, before arriving at the small village of Pisac, a picturesque town, which is the gateway to the Sacred Valley, here you have an opportunity to viewing the many artisans work. You will then transfer to your Hotel where you will have the evening free to relax and enjoy the fine facilities on offer.Night in Sacred Valley (B ).

Day 8 : Full day Machu Picchu
This morning you will be transferred to the train station. From here you will take your beautiful train journey through the changing microclimates as the ride takes you into the higher reaches of the Amazon, to the small yet lively town of Aguas Calientes where you will take the transport up to the city of Machu Picchu. In order for you to maximize your enjoyment from your visit, we provide the services of a professional local guide who will reveal some of the mysteries that surround this fascinating place. After your visit we return for mid afternoon to the small village of Aguas Calientes where we will take the 4.35 afternoon return train to Cusco. Upon arrival we transfer to your hotel and have the evening free to explore Cusco by night, take in a fine restaurant and sample one of the many places of entertainment. Night in Cuzco (B)

Day 9 : Lima - Paracas
At the indicated time, you will be transferred to the airport for taking your short flight to Lima city. At the airport, a member of our staff will be waiting for you to take to the bus station to Pisco city by first class bus (departure at 13.30 pm in the afternoon). Reception and transfer of the passengers. Free day to do personal activities. Night in Posada Hotel (B).


Dia 10 : Lima - Paracas
After breakfast, you start the day with marítime excursion to Ballestas Islands and terrestrial tour to the Natural Paracas Reserve. Visit to the Julio C. Tello museum, beaches, etc. In the afternoo, return to Lima city by first class touristic bus. Arrival at 21.00 hrs at night approx. Transfer at the Hotel or International airpor JORGE CHAVEZ for your flight back home. (B)
