Day 1: Welcome to the Amazon jungle.
Arrival to the tropical town of Puerto Maldonado. You will be met at the airport and transferred to the Wasai Maldonado Lodge where your guide will give you the details of your jungle trip. After a refreshing drink you will make the 3-4 hour journey up the Tambopata Amazon River into the primary rainforest of the Tambopata Reserve Zone with the opportunity to see local communities and wildlife along the banks of the river. You will arrive at the Wasai Tambopata Lodge in the late afternoon. After refreshments you will go on a short introductory walk into the forest . In the evening you will go on a night walk to look for some of the nocturnal creatures of the forest.
Dinner and overnight stay at the eco lodge, the different sounds of the forest will be with us on our first night in the amazon.
Day 2 : Wildlife Rainforest
Wake up early (5 am) and travel up the Tambopata River for an hour and half to the Bahuaja- Sonene National Park. You will see a magical sunrise and it is a great opportunity to see animals such as capybaras, tapi , Jaguar, and deer in the bank of Tambopata river and surrounding virgin forest . We will observe ( from an appropriate distance) one of the greatest spectacle of the rainforest: Hundreds of parrots, parakeets and macaws of various species, enjoying their diet of mineral salts on a river bank. We will have a hot drink and a snack whilst watching birds and go for a short walk to look for animals such as monkeys. We will return to to the camp site to have a late breakfast and rest briefly. Then exploration through the trail system, we will enter in the verdant jungle to observe wildlife. We will enter the wild territory of jaguars, peccaries, deer, and others, with the possibility to hear or see some of them, or discover a troop of monkeys traveling through the forest in search of food. We will observe exotic amazon birds as the hoatzin .
Time permitting, we will be able to enjoy a relaxing rest in hammocks until lunch.
After lunch we will have new chances to see the macaws, this option is very valuable if it rains in the morning giving visitants two options to see the macaws in rainy days. Them we will travel back down the river to the Tambopata Lodge. time permiting we will take a refreshing bath in the Gato cascades. If we are lucky we will observe a beautiful sunset from the river.
After dinner search for caimans or relax in our lodge surrounded by exotic nocturnal sounds of the rainforest.
Day 3 Living the jungle
Wake up early to make a short walk in the forest around the lodge to observe birds and wildlife
After breakfast we will make new journey through the jungle to observe giant trees, exotic plants, swamps and different ecosystems. Return to the lodge, we will be able to enjoy a relaxing swim
in the cascade
of the cat.
Lunch
After lunch we will take a short rest then we will make an ethnobotanical walk, the guide will show you singular plants and will explain how the native people of the rain forest use them.
Special typical dinner
Day 4
You will have breakfast and then make the journey back down the Tambopata River to Puerto Maldonado and transfer to the airport.
